On this module, you will be developing your ability to think about an issue from a range of perspectives and come to your own conclusions. You will continue to work on developing your understanding of, and ability to use academic English in both written and spoken communication. You will focus on synthesising both primary and secondary evidence in order to write an academic report and deliver a presentation.
This module provides you with the opportunity to: meet the language requirements for progression; display increasing linguistic and literacy skills to a level that will enable you to mostly communicate competently within the UK academic context at postgraduate level; develop an increasing awareness and understanding of the cultures, context and discourse of postgraduate academic study in UK Higher Education; begin to develop into autonomous, reflective learners, with increasing understanding of ethical academic practices.

2. Demonstrate audience and discourse awareness, including an understanding of typical genres in your own discipline.
3. Display awareness of academic integrity conventions and practices.

6. Justify appropriate strategies to approach your studies in English.

Progress will be monitored through:- Your performance will be closely monitored throughout the semester. As well as ad hoc feedback from tutors during classes, you will receive tailored feedback on regular formative tasks. The tasks you submit will be evaluated and your personal tutor will provide written feedback indicating your ongoing performance and how you can improve which will be discussed during consultations. These tasks will be connected either directly or indirectly to your summative tasks and will be a combination of written and spoken types. These will increase in challenge throughout the module allowing you to develop your language and skills. You will regularly meet your personal tutor and will have the opportunity to ask specific questions about your progress.
