Module summary

In this module you will have the opportunity to develop and apply business modelling, entrepreneurship and employability skills as you undertake an experiential learning project based on new venture creation in the cultural and creative industries. Working in groups, you will ideate, plan, assess the viability, and pitch your own business idea based on the detailed knowledge and awareness you have developed throughout the programme of real-world developments in media, cultural policy, digital technologies and global consumer markets. You will be supported throughout to reflect on your skills development across the module and how your experiences of entrepreneurship will link to your long-term career aspirations.

Objectives

On completion of this module, you will have applied knowledge and understanding of a creative industry or cultural sector. You will have experience of developing entrepreneurship skills and the knowledge required to be an effective creative entrepreneur. You will reflect upon your experience of ideation, business pitching, teamworking and project realisation, identifying personal career goals and considering your own continuous professional development.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of the module students will have demonstrated the following learning outcomes relevant to the subject:

1. Evaluate the variety of contexts in which creative enterprise and entrepreneurship skills can be applied, either in individual practice or within organisations.
2. Apply theoretical and analytical approaches of business modelling and consultancy to a creative industry or cultural sector organisation.
3. Identify, understand, and reflect on application of entrepreneurship skills and knowledge to your own professional development and practice.
4. Apply and evaluate strategies for team-working.
